| These figures have many possible uses. I am thinking along a colonial war-game based on the Egyptian war against the Mahdi. They can also be reinforcements for my Arab army, or a foe against them. |

| These were the other half of the above collection. There were enough native figures that, with figures I already have, will give me 3 units of Fuzzi Wuzzis, and 3 other units of native troops. The other figures, with figures I already have, will give me 5 units of Egyptian infantry and either 1 unit of Egyptian cavalry, or 2 weak cavalry units. |

| This particular cavalry figure is probably my favorite Peter Laing cavalry figure. Perhaps because it reminds me of Britains cavalry figures. |
Its great to see those individual purchases are adding up to make a larger army. Your patience has been rewarded!
ReplyDeleteI took a couple extra Arabs I already had and repainted them to match the new figures, which rounded out the new figure units. When collecting Peter Laing figures, patience is necessary.
DeleteIan Dury sent some great Peter Laing photos via Dropbox. In them were some shots of Ottoman Turk cavalry painted as Arabs. I might turn some of my Ottomans into cavalry for this army.

ReplyDeleteThe tricorn cavalry was a great find. The red and blue figures I had very few of; these reinforcements are a welcome addition.
DeleteThat is quite a haul, all wonderful. Just finished a long run of long days at work and thus has cheered me up no end. You should bottle your metal detecting skills and sell it, you would soon enough replenish your war chest. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear that this blog has some good, in that it helps cheer you up. There are several blogs I like visiting when I'm low. I have been lucky finding Peter Laing figures, but without the help of Ian Dury my collection would be a shadow of what it is.
