20mm Hinton Hunt Napoleonics

          Over the weekend I came across a blog with Hinton Hunt miniatures.  When I first got interested in wargaming again, I had come across some stories involving Hinton Hunts.
       After reading "Charge!" I thought that Hinton Hunts might be good for "Charge!" armies. I found someone who was producing the figures. At the time you had to buy bags of 100 and really couldn't pick what poses you wanted (I wanted march attack poses). Still I ordered Russian Pavlov Grenadiers and French 1806 French.  I liked the figures, but they ended up in war-game limbo. Occasionally I will come across them  and think that they deserve better.

 After seeing the blog, I started thinking of the fact Hinton Hunt had Crimean War figures, so I spent half an hour looking for the old catalog, without success.

    Hinton Hunt did a good selection of British infantry, some Russians but only one cavalryman.

    Douglas Miniatures did some cavalry in a range of similar sized Crimea.

    John, You're right, I both enjoyed the figures and now have another blog to watch! Another blog had some photos of the Hinton Hunt figures; I believe it was a Russian in a cap, a highlander and British lancer. I'll have to try to find the blog and give it credit.

    I usually follow the vintage blog, but missed the posting about Hinton Hunt. And the other one I had never seen before; I will have to add that to my bookmark page.

    By the way, I made a mold of the APW Austrian infantry. The figures came out pretty good. Let me know if you have any interest in them, I'll send you some.

      John - yes please - I have just acquired some of the Crimean War or 1859 French - so I would love some of the Austrians

    Old John- Thank you for letting me know. I've been to your website and liked what I saw. I have been working with 15mm the last couple of years. But I have been thinking of getting some of the Complete Brigade figures, and I like the looks of the Douglas miniatures. I had never seen them before. The postage is a problem but just part of the hobby. John

    John, I sent you an email for that list. I haven't used 20mm in a couple of years, but the fact I could get some "old school" figures might be too great a temptation. And the prices are reasonable, too.
