New Toy Soldier Molds

While on Ebay a couple of weeks ago, somehow I came across these molds, which were on the German Ebay site. I got these  molds; unfortunately I could only afford two of them and missed out on some more. I was hoping these would be the same size as Zinnbrigades, alas, no. However, they are nice figures and sometimes I think of maybe trying to sell toy soldiers at local craft fairs. These would be nice additions if I ever do take the plunge.

These figures seem to be wearing German Jager  shakos with the visors on both front and back.

A Zinnbrigade figure between figures from the new molds showing the scale difference.

  1. Yes, too bad the Schneider style molds run bigger, in general 45mm-60mm. Then it becomes a matter of deciding whether or not to commit to them fully. And that can be an expensive proposition if you have to fall back on Berliner Zinnfiguren or the Bleisoldaten site if pot luck on German eBay doesn't suffice.

You might have a look at Scad molds, they're 40mm and will match Schildkroet for scale if not a perfect match stylistically. Some examples recently posted on my blog.

  2. Steve, I have bought more of these molds, three to be exact. All three seems to be of different scales. While they won't work with the Zinnbrigade figures, I just like the style and if I ever do try to sell them, I think they would be a nice addition.

I do have one Scad mold, an Austrian rifleman kneeling firing. The figure is too flat for my liking. I don't know if any are rounder than the Austrian. I have to check out your blog to see.

  3. John, yes - the Scads all seem to be pretty flat. Fine for me because I like flats but definitely not for everyone. So long as they could be segregated in their own units it could work out but stylistically they don't mix with the rounder figures.
