1st South Carolina Regiment

I found another set of Edmunds Toy Soldiers at a reasonable price. A little research showed they are the 1st South Carolina Regiment. I believe they were stored where the original box suffered water damage (the seller didn't send the box) but still were a good buy.

I took these pictures to use with AI animations.

    1. Edmunds Toy Soldiers is about the only toy soldier manufacturer who specialized in Civil War Militia uniforms.

  2. The uniform style is the same as the classic Union Iron Brigade.

  3. The black felt hat was common in the early war, ad it was used by the US Army as a dress hat. The picture isn't clear but the uniforms are grey with green piping. It is a handsome uniform.

  6. Very nice toys. What will you do with them? Will you game with them, or are they just for display? In either event, they look lovely.
I feel the early militia uniforms look much nicer than the mass produced uniforms from later in the civil war. In reality I appreciate there’s a significant difference between those uniforms worn mostly for “show” in times of peace and those worn during times of war (when the grim reality of combat would, I suspect, necessitate uniforms that were relatively plain but functional).
    Cheers,
